What is Golden Time ?
What is Golden Time?
Golden Time is a system of reward for good behaviour for Years two to six. It is considered a privilege and has to be earned.
Those children that show respect for others and obey the school and class rules, which are displayed in the classrooms and around the school, to act as a reminder for the children.
The children’s right to Golden Time is based on a card system. When a child breaks a rule, they are issued a yellow card, which acts as a warning. If they receive two further yellow cards this results in a red card and a loss of five minutes of Golden Time. Names of children who are to miss part of Golden Time are recorded by the teacher and removed at the end of the week ready for a fresh start the following week.
Golden Time usually takes place on a Friday afternoon and consists of
of a variety of activities including arts & crafts, playing games on the computers, construction with Lego, etc, and board games. Children are also offered quieter activities such as colouring or reading.
