Who are the Governors

of Loatlands Primary School?

Our Governors.

 

David Larmour is our chair of governors.  He runs a Consultancy Business and has lived in the town for many years. (LAR)

 

Andrew Spencer has been Headteacher at Loatlands since 2004. He has also worked as a registered school’s inspector. (Head)

 

Helen Johnson started her teaching career at Loatlands.  She has now worked for several years in Special education. (PG)

 

David Coe has been a local councillor for many years. (LAR)

 

Mark Lantsbery is business manager for an outdoor education and conference centre in Leicestershire. (CG)

 

Christine Francis, vice chair,  had two children who experienced school life at Loatlands. She has been a governor for several  years. (CG)

 

Simon Biddlecombe works in printing and has been involved in the creation of “Nature’s Classroom” the school conservation area. (PG)

 

Joyce Sutherland is the school administrator and has been involved with the school for many years. (SG)

 

Ken Jack is a respected member of the local community. (LAR)

 

John Lund is a retired teacher who now works closely with the clergy. (CG)

 

Tracey Jones is mother of a child in our Reception Class and is our newest Parent Governor. (PG)

 

Barbara Crowther was a teacher at the school when it first opened. She is now Key Stage 1 leader. (TG)

 

Sharon Hully works part time at the school and has an interest in the school travel plan. (PG)

 

Nick Cook works for an IT company and has a special interest in IT within the school. (PG)

 

Joanne Watson works in the school and devotes considerable time to the school’s extra curricular programme. (AG)

 

Denise Read is the chairperson of PALS who raise funds and organize events for parents and children. (AG)

 

People become governors through different routes.  Some are appointed by the local authority (LAR).  Some are elected as Parent governors (PG). Some have to be staff and teacher governors (SG/TG).  Some are appointed to represent the local community as community governors (CG).  Some are co-opted as associate governors (AG) who have special skills or experience to offer the governing body.

 

Each governor serves for a term of office, normally three years and at the end of that time might have to stand for re-election. Each governor serves on at least one sub committee. The main sub committees are

At other times governors may be asked to help form specially constituted committees, for example to interview for an appointment or to hear an appeal against an exclusion.
