Year 1

Hello! Welcome to Year 1's Webpage.

If you would like to read about Year 1, please click on any of the stories below.

Grandparents Day - We've been busy.

Pirates Assembly. We've been busy again.

Mrs B Crowther.

At the beginning of the school year, the children have to adjust from free flow activities in Reception, though we still have lots of time for playing.

I teach the children how to do 'guided reading' in a group, which means they can read more often than if they read by themselves.

The children will still continue with their Read, Write Inc groups, working alongside our LSA Mrs Baggaley and in Numeracy they will be working with bigger numbers up to 20 and working on RM Maths every day, on the computer.  We also have a graduate trainee who is training to be a teacher.  Her name is Mrs McBride

Our classroom has its own 'Quiet Room' and an outside patio and the children can play with sand, water, dough etc. in our 'Wet Area'.

As the year progresses, the children will be able to read and write a lot more independently and confidently.

I am involved in lots of community activities in Desborough so we will be going down to the war memorial for Remembrance Day and visiting the churches and residential homes. I also love to dance so we will all be keeping fit.

The Children will also lose lots of teeth!!

As the year progresses, our webpage will fill with examples of what we do in year 1, using photos and video, for example. As we can’t show all the photographs we take on our webpage, we have our online class photo album. Click HERE to take you to our album.
