About Us
Kingston Consortium exists to maintain and strengthen infrastructure in order to build capacity in its local third sector.
Our Objectives:
Capacity building
1. To provide capacity building services to third sector organisations through new and existing technologies.
2. To promote capacity building services more widely across the borough and keep front line organisations up to date with policy issues that affect them including evolving neighbourhood developments and the role that local hubs might play in community development and the delivery of local services e.g.schools, GP surgeries.
3. To provide capacity building support in financial management.
4. To work with partners to develop premises to house third sector organisations.
5. To further develop and promote good governance across the sector and support existing and new trustees in their roles.
6. To provide organisational development support including strategic and business planning, fundraising, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation etc.
7. Capacity building the third sector through supporting workforce development initiatives.
Income Generation
8. To support Superhighways through its transitional period until it becomes a viable social enterprise.
9. To develop networks and forums which encourage shared learning, information exchange and joint working.
10. Suppport the involvement of third sector organisations as local delivery agents and help them respond to new and emerging patterns of funding, including contracts and engagement in commissioning and procurement processes (if appropriate).
Volunteering
11. To further build the capacity of the Volunteer Centre to continue to promote and develop best practice volunteering opportunities across the borough and realise new opportunities across all sectors.
12. To support and capacity build local cultural (sports and arts) organisations in volunteering in the run up to the Olympics.
BME organisations
13. Continue to promote and strengthen equalities organisations especially the BME sector through targeting and promoting specific resources, support and training programmes across the sector (facilitating improved communication and engagement).
Community Development
14. Ensre that specific services within the third sector are profiled and more engaged as a local partner in the development of local programmes (i.e. Children and Families work and LiNks).
Sub-regional / Regional
15. To work with infrastructure providers working at a local, sub-regional and regional level to build the capacity and strengthen the ability of thirs sector organisations to deliver high quality services to local communities and help improve the quality of life of Londoners.
What are the outcomes and long term changes that the Consortium hopes to bring about?
Volunteering:
1. The role of volunteering will be strengthened and widened across all sectors.
2. Increased number of third sector cultural organisations involved in volunteering in the run up to the Olympics.
Capacity building:
3. ICT support services to third sector organisations will be strengthened and widened across the borough and linked with the sub regional Superhighways programme.
4. Third sector organisations will be more informed about the range of infrastructure services available across the borough and the policies that affect them.
5. Third sector organisations will have improved financial management systems in place.
6. Some third sector organisations will have access to cost effective sustainable premises.
7. Trustees will have a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities thus improving the governance of their organisation.
8. Management and governance of third sector organisations will be improved via capacity building resulting in better services for clients / users.
9. Improved efficiency and effectiveness of third sector organisations through the provision of workforce development initiatives.
Income Generation:
10. Superhighways becomes a hybrid social enterprise.
11. Third sector organisations will be more engaged in networks and forums and joint planning and partnership working (E.g. Social Enterprise Network and Advice Providers Forum).
12. Increased role of third sector organisations as deliverers of key local services and improved knowledge of new patterns of funding sources.
BME organisations:
13. Management of third sector equalities and BME organisations will be improved resulting in better services for clients / users.
Community development:
14. Third sector organisations will be more engaged in joint planning and partnership working and have better understanding of local programmes, including children and families and LiNks.
Sub-regional / Regional:
15. Increased collaborative working locally, sub-regioanlly and regionally, which strengthens the ability of third sector organisations.
