Haighton is a rural parish located to the north-east of the City of Preston.

It has an area of about 3 square miles, with Cow Hill in the east of the parish, Squire Anderton's Wood in the south and Blundel Brook flowing along its boundary with Whittingham to the north.

Haighton is bisected by the picturesque Savick Brook valley which can best be enjoyed near the bridge at the junction of Whittingham, Haighton Green and Brabiner Lanes.  Whittingham Lane offers splendid views out to the Bowland Fells, then Haighton Green Lane passes the best known landmark in the parish: Haighton Manor.  Haighton Green Lane then passes through the hamlet of Haighton Green where walkers and cyclists can rest their weary bones on the Parish Council seat (pictured above).  The winding lane eventually becomes D'urton Lane at Haighton Top, near the boundary between Haighton and Broughton Parishes.

Haighton is a scattered rural community, relying mainly on the nearby village of Grimsargh for local services. However, it has many public footpaths where the pleasant rural scenery can be enjoyed.
