Adopt a plot!
Residents of Manorgate Road, Norbiton recently adopted informally around 15 beds in the street, which is part of a home zone. This was created in 2004 but the council does not have funds to maintain it. Recently several residents took on the task of weeding, digging and picking litter after 10 years of neglect and got permission for a street closure on Sun 16 Oct for an intensive gardening and social day. The council have supported us with plants, compost and the promise of 2 trees plus bollards to protect planted areas and residents have donated over £300. Ward councillors were also impressed.

Work continues and many more residents have been motivated to help. We have no formal constitution yet or even a name. Community spirit is enhanced by our now annual street party on the day of the London cycle ride in July when the street has to be closed anyway.

Work begins
A small steering group met to discuss setting up a Forum for friend of local green spaces, where we could share information, support each other, and work together to protect our local green spaces
