Payment of Reduced Contributions
A) SICKNESS
i. Where a member receives sick pay from their employer in addition to SSP or DHSS sickness benefit, Full union contributions are payable.
ii. Where a members' entitlement to their employers sick pay scheme is exhausted and a member is in receipt of SSP or DHSS sickness benefit, only the reduced rate of contribution is payable.
iii. Were the member receives no sick pay from the employer, reduced rate applies.
To qualify to pay reduced rate of contributions, members who are sick must have paid Full contributions for at least 52 weeks and be fully financial.
B) UNEMPLOYMENT
Full members who become unemployed should pay the reduced rate of contributions to retain their membership and benefits.

C) NATIONAL ACCIDENT BENEFIT
Members claiming and receiving National Accident Benefit must pay must pay full contributions rate whilst drawing benefit.
D) LEGAL ASSSTANCE
The full contribution rate is payable where legal assistance has been granted to a member. Should a member become unemployed whilst legal assistance is being provided, application can be made to the Regional Secretary to limit the period for which full contributions will be required. Branch Secretaries cannot automatically reduce contributions where a legal case is being pursued. (Rule 27-49)
