Achievements

Once again over the last year our local Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph has highlighted the achievements of our local craftsmen, past and present, in their outstanding skills in the fabrication and engineering products

The photographs published here, by kind permission of the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph, are only a few of the past era such as the maintenance of and construction of new blast furnaces, Jodrell Bank Telescope, Chelsea FC’s East Stand at Stamford Bridge (built 1970), the Humber Bridge and many more that members could relate to you in their life time.

During 2004 the local paper has, several times, highlighted present day achievements that our local CORUS UK Ltd workforce have manufactured and are making for the future. Our present day craftsmen are involved with work for the ministry of defence such as, equipment for mine sweepers, terrier tanks and on the civil side - lifts for the Gatwick Airport extensions and many more.

Plus the fact our members do a large amount of work on maintenance and fabrication for the steelworks manufacturing processes.

We are highly proud of our local craftsmen both past and present.

We say good luck and thank you to our present and future craftsmen.

’Keep the skills operating for the benefit of our local community!’

We also have many more local craftsmen working in the area for other firms doing maintenance for our local steelworks and oil refineries.
