PRESS RELEASE, JUNE 09: Euphonix - full to bursting!
Euphonix, the community choir that began rehearsing at the Rose Theatre in February, has become so popular that for the time being Euphonix organisers are having to operate a waiting list. Between 40 and 50 singers regularly turn up to their Wednesday morning rehearsals of rounds, and folk and pop songs from around the world – enough to make a really good sound, say the organisers, but almost too many for the available space.
Euphonix Membership Secretary Sheila Coulson says: “The Euphonix news has spread and our numbers have grown rapidly. We are currently at full capacity for our rehearsal venue but if you are keen to join please contact us on info@euphonix.org.uk or 020 8546 4086 and we will do our best to accommodate you or add your name to our waiting list."
Euphonix members describe what they get out of singing: “Being in a group, enjoying the music, some songs I’ve never heard before and particularly harmony”; “Happiness, challenge, something to look forward to”; “Good social contact with a common purpose”; “… the opportunity to meet and interact with other people”; “Feeling good within myself”; “I’ve developed my voice and my social life in one go!”; “Increased self-confidence”; “I’ve enjoyed playing a small part in making some lovely sounds, and seeing a group of strangers gel into a choir”.
The Euphonix team would like to thank the Rose Theatre, the Royal Borough of Kingston and the local media for all their interest and support, which has helped Euphonix to do so well. Our next informal “end-of-term” performance will be in the Rose Culture Café on Wednesday 1 July at around 12.15.
