Residents gathered on the green outside Queen Mary’s Hall at Cambridge Gardens and sat on their balconies on the mercifully rain free evening of the 16th August, to enjoy the 'swing' and ‘Big Band' style music of Kingston Youth Big Band. This event was organised by the Cambridge Road Estates Community Group in partnership with the Cambridge Gardens Residents Association and Kingston Resident Participation Team to celebrate Cambridge Gardens 60th Anniversary .Invited guests included The Mayor Councillor David Berry, Head of Housing, Mike England, Councillors Penny Shelton and Sheila Griffin and popular ex Councillor Ed Naylor. They were joined by the Norbiton Safer Neighbourhood Team and 'Silly Milly' the Clown who kept local youngsters enthralled whilst their grateful parents enjoyed that rare commodity, a few hours to relax knowing that the kids were happy and safely occupied. This has been one of the first big occasions when the Community Group has joined forces with the Cambridge Gardens Residents Association to put on an event and we are keen to ensure that it will not be the last!
