Silver Surfers Day Thursday 14th May 2009 |
On Thursday the 14th May this year the Club held a Silver Surfers Day in conjunction with Digital Unite. Across the country, during the week of the 11th to the 15th May, Silver Surfer Days were held to give anyone over the age of 50 a taste of the internet and everything it has to offer. We had a small group of enthusiastic, mature students who enjoyed their two hour taster sessions. These sessions were held in the Community Advice Shop and The Federation Office. Some of our students who took part have since gone on to take advantage of our other workshops. |

Basic IT Workshop 27th August 2009
| The next training course was a Basic IT Workshop held in Piper Hall showing beginners how to use the internet, how to create an email account and how to send and receive emails . The workshop lasted for two hours as we hoped this would stop people suffering from "information overload". |
We had a follow-up workshop to the Basic IT course on the 23rd September, again in Piper Hall, with the same people but taking them on to the next level. All ages learning together and enjoying themselves. The Basic IT Workshop appears to be a popular course so we held another one on the 12th November in Piper Hall.
