Getting Online
To get online with Community Connected, you will need:
- A computer with wireless capability. Your computer need not be very new or very fast. If your computer does not have wireless capability, and you live on the Cambridge Road Estates (or other qualifying areas), Community Connected can supply you (free) with a...
- A wireless adapter, which enables your computer to receive wireless (WiFi) signals. Simply click on your wireless adapter's config manager and select "view available networks" (or similar). You should then select "ComConnected".
- WiFi reach of the ComConnected broadcast. The wireless broadcast is strong in some parts of the estate; less so in others. You should be prepared to experiment with your WiFi receiver until you get the strongest possible signal - start by placing it near (or even sticking it to) any window that overlooks one of the four main towers (Madingley, Brinkley, Childerley or Graveley).
Once you have connected to our broadcast, you then launch an internet browser (for example Mozilla's Firefox or Internet Explorer). You should then see our "Splash Page".
First time user?
When you use Community Connected's service for the first time, you will need to apply for a registration. You only need to supply your name and address, along with a valid email address, and pick a password that you will remember. Your application will be reviewed (normally within a few hours, but can take up to 72 hours maximum) and, once approved, you will be able to use Community Connected's FREE wireless broadband internet service.
Each time you access the internet using Community Connected's wireless broadband service, you have to "login" via the Splash Page. Each login is valid for 24 hours - but don't worry, your registration details don't change, you just need to enter them again 24 hours later.
