The Royal Borough of Kingston has appointed architects Tonkin Liu and consultants JMP to develop proposals for the Market Area. Soundings, specialists in community consultation and engagement, will be ensuring that local businesses, resident and community groups, visitors and relevant wider stakeholders are properly informed and given an opportunity to be involved in the process to help shape the plans. Input from the local community is vital to creating a successful place, say Soundings, and over the next few months they will be hosting events informing about and discussing different aspects of the project.
Consultation update
See http://www.kingston.gov.uk/ancient_market_area for occasional updates, where you can also download the second project newsletter. This provides an overview of the emerging themes from consultation and in response, the design team has developed project aims and approaches that will guide further development of the designs.
A more detailed report will be available on this web-page in mid-September, please check for updates.
Upcoming events
The design team are currently working up the designs based on the principles outlined in the newsletter. In September we will be holding a Community Market Event and two public exhibitions where we would like to gather your feedback on the initial concept proposals and approaches.
Please come to an event, see the initial concept proposals and let us know your views! Members of the project team will be there to discuss the project with you and answer any questions. Following these events the design team will be refining and developing proposals.
