Do you ever find yourself getting frustrated by cuts in Government spending? Maybe you have significant concerns about workplace discrimination and stigma? Perhaps you’re worried that local services may suffer because money earmarked for HIV Support is no longer ring-fenced?
If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then you should consider joining the HIV Activists Network, launched on World AIDS Day by NAT (National AIDS Trust).
The HIV Activists Network has been established to give people living with HIV a louder voice on the issues that affect our lives and the tools to take direct action.
The Network is made up of a group of people that feel passionately about: the health, rights and civil liberties of people living with HIV.
At any one time there will be eight to ten campaigning points or ‘asks’ that you can take action on. Current 'asks' include: email your MP about the Welfare Reform Bill or write to your local PCT about HIV prevention and testing.
The ‘asks’ will change every few months and will be developed with the help of Positively UK, the Stigma Index and of course the activists themselves.
