We are an active community group that aims "to advance the education of the general public in Irish culture, history and heritage". We are a membership organisation and have recently become a registered charity. All our activities are carried out voluntarily. Membership is open to all who support our aims. Our current activities include: Monthly discussion meetings on topics of Irish Heritage - held at the Irish Club on (usually) the first Wednesday of every month, 7 pm. An invited speaker leads on their particular interest, followed by questions, discussion & refreshments. These events are free and open to everyone. Publishing feasibility study. We are researching the possibility of publishing cards, pamphlets and books about the Irish community in Birmingham. Training. We organise training for ourselves, for example on Confident Public Speaking, Researching Family History, Trustee Roles & Responsibilities. We hope in the long term to establish a locus for Irish Heritage which would include research facilities, archive, library & activity rooms.
