For Auld Lang Syne
-
Undoubtedly, we are indebted to previous generations who left us much of value. They built the foundations of the present day. We must now in turn preserve, enhance and secure our heritage for the future. Heritage is about people as much as it is about artefacts. Dead artefacts tend to live long and tell their own story, whereas the living memory is short-lived.
- Memories of the past - of daily doings of ordinary folk have great importance and deserve to be preserved. Especially in the present day when communities have become widely dispersed, we face the risk of community collective memory loss. There is much that can be done to preserve that memory. We invite you as Bathgate Bairns to record your memories of life in the town for inclusion in our web-site. We'll even stretch the definition of a Bathgate Bairn, if you have a tale to tell.
