Events relevant to the Barton line
The following events have been scheduled, but can be subject to change, so do check again before setting out.
2012
Sunday 20th May
Start of the Sunday service on the Barton line. Group lunch at 12 noon in the idyllic surroundings at Butters Wood Lodge fishery near Thornton Abbey station. On leaving the Barton-bound platform turn right and follow the railway for half a mile to Soff Lane, turn right into the lane and then right again into the fishery and the café is on the left. 11:00 train from Barton arrives at 11:16, 09:58 train from Cleethorpes arrives at 10:30; return trains for Barton depart at 15:30 & 18:30, return trains for Cleethorpes depart at 14:16, 16:31 & 19:31. Pre-booking with menu choice required through the FBL Secretary.

Monday 4th June
Free events and entertainments in Barton's Baysgarth park 12noon - 4pm courtesy of the Town Council to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Bring your own food, drink and seating. A beacon will be lit in the evening at the Humber Bridge Viewing Area as part of the nationwide chain.
Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th June

Wednesday 4th July
Barton Bike Night 5 - 10pm (most bikes 6 - 8pm). Details from 07896 712048.
Wednesday 11th July
FBL AGM at 8pm followed by OGM at the Sloop Inn in Barton; optional group meal from 6pm. Members and their guests only, see Home page for directions.
Sunday 22nd July
Centenary of the formal opening of Immingham Dock.

Saturday 1st September
Group visit to Mr Straw's House of the National Trust at Worksop. Booking with the FBL Secretary is essential; slots reserved for 13:10 and 13:25. Entrance fee for non NT members is currently £6.25. Train departs Cleethorpes at 11:10 and returns at 18:11.
Sunday 9th September
Last day of the Sunday service on the Barton line. Group meal to be arranged.
Wednesday 12th September
FBL committee meeting at 8pm at the Sloop Inn in Barton; optional group meal from 6pm. Members and their guests only, see Home page for directions.
Friday 19th October
Illustrated talk for the Civic Society by Stephen Gay entitled Railways in a Yorkshire Landscape from 7:30pm at the Assembly Rooms in Queen Street, Barton. Civic Society members free, non members £1.
Wednesday 14th November

Thursday 15th November
Rob Foxon's celebrated ciné film show at the Memorial Hall at the corner of Grimsby Road and Clee Road in Cleethorpes at 7:30pm with FBL stall.
