Our meeting place. The Priory Hotel, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe

Our club is (at present) a relatively small group of keen amateur photographers. We meet most Mondays at the Priory Hotel in Scunthorpe at 8.00 pm. At other times, especially in the summer, we meet in a variety of outdoor locations. Here we have the opportunity to use our cameras (both film & digital) in any way we wish. Occasionally we arrange to be joined by one or more models to facilitate conventional portrai
ts.

Meetings indoors consist of a variety of activities. Some evenings members will bring along a selection of prints and / or slides to view and discuss and for the less experienced, hints, tips and advice. On other evenings we welcome guest speakers to give illustrated lectures and practical demonstrations on a varied selection of topics. At other times, lectures are given by club members. Other evenings are spent doing things such as table top and close-up photography. The club have both flash and tungsten lighting set-ups and backgrounds to enable high quality results from our portrait nights.

As we are affiliated to the Lincolnshire Photographic Association (LPA), and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, we also enter county wide competitions between different clubs. Therefore, some evenings will be spent selecting work (both conventional & digital) for entry into these competitions. There are also exhibitions, both our own and and the LPA’s biennial exhibition. Some nights are spent viewing entries from other exhibitions from other parts of the country which we hire in the form of slides and are accompanied by a recorded commentary.

For those who are beginners in photography, you will learn from us by hints and advice offered by all our members and by specific club tutorials where possible.

Membership costs £2.00 per visit to the clubroom. No annual fee.
