Help for local people affected by the recession

The Kingston Recession Recovery Group* held an event on Thursday 18th February at the United Reform Church, Eden Street, Kingston from 11am to 1pm.
This was an opportunity for a number of agencies to give information and support to local people affected by the recession. Residents were able to find out about services that are available to help beat the recession from a number of agencies all under one roof. There was an emphasis on advice and information on employment, housing, benefits and debt.

- Kingston Citizens Advice Bureau
- Kingston Volunteer Centre
- Jobcentre Plus
- RBK- Housing advice
- RBK – Housing & Council Tax Benefit
- Kingston Chamber of Commerce ‘Executive Futures’ service for out of work professionals, executives and managers
- Kingston College – employability skills training provided via Response to Redundancy funding
- Graduate to Business – help for recent graduates looking for internships and job winning skills.
- KCIL (Kingston Centre for Independent Living)
- Trading Standards – advice on the London Illegal Money lending Team which investigates allegations of ‘loan sharking’ & unlicensed lending
- The Pension service (from 12 o’clock)
- Natural Health Awareness Association – who can provide information on complementary therapies and ways to help with stress, etc. as well can providing taster sessions
- Law For All
The Kingston United Reformed Church is on Eden Street and is conveniently situated close to parking at Eden Walk Shopping Centre.
