Victim Support (Kingston)
Victim Support Kingston is an independent charity which assists victims and Kingston residents in coping with the effects of crime. We achieve this by providing free and confidential information and advice to victims of crime and/or witnesses attending local courts on issues such as Robbery, ABH, GBH, hate crimes, domestic violence, harassment, rape and sexual assault, bereavement by homicide, e.t.c.
Please remember that our services and all your dealing with us is independent of the Police and Courts and we welcome anyone, irrespective of whether crime(s) against them was reported to the Police and regardless of when the crime occurred.
Furthermore, we assist our clients in negotiations and Advocacy Services and where necessary, we represent them at the Magistrates' Court and County Court - (we dealt with approximately 50 cases lasy year).
We provide information on how to "Cope with crime" if your case is being (or has been) investigated by the Police and/or goes to court. We also provide information on how to deal with the procedures and processes of the Criminal Justice System
To access our services, clients who need help, information and advice on Domestic Violence (only) can use our drop-in session held once a week on Mondays mornings from 9.30am to 12.30 noon at Kingston Baptist Church, Union Street, KT1 1RP (See Map). Additionally, you can make an appointment to speak to us by calling us on 020 8547 3202 and we will write back to confirm your appointment date, venue and time. Potential clients can also contact us by e-mail, letter and referral from other agencies.
PARTNERSHIP WORK - At present, we receive funding from the Home Office, charitable foundations and local government but we will also be interested in putting in shared funding bids with other voluntary agencies that would compliment our services as well as enhance their own services.
Currently, we have an inter-agency referral system, however, in order to speed up the referral process, we also give referrals by telephone, e-mail or fax.
