Kingston Carers Network (KCN)
Kingston Carers Network (KCN) is an independent voluntary sector charity providing support and information to unpaid carers on issues such as benefits and allowances. KCN provides an adult carer's coffee, rotating round the borough. Come along for a chat with other carers over coffee and biscuits.
KCN will listen to carers when they need to talk to someone and encourage carers to call before it becomes a crisis.
We can offer advice and information - tell you what other services can help you, give advice on benefits and allowances, help you to understand your rights as a carer, help you gain access to services.
Act as a mediator - when you may need a professional to get someone to listen or to be with you when you approach a professional.
KCN runs a coffee club for adult carers which is held in venues around the borough.
KCN is involved in annual national events like 'Carers' Week' in June and 'Carers' Rights Day' in December.
KCN offers some outings and activities for carers each year and will try to help with any queries relevant to carers.
We receive some funding from the Local Authority and Primary Care Trust, but we also have to seek external funding.
Carers that want to access our services can contact us by telephone or e-mail as seen below.
We receive referrals from other services or self-referrals and carers can also make face-to-face or phone appointments to speak to one of our staff.
STAFF - We have five paid staff and 10 volunteers working with us.
