Introduction
The Centre has been developed to provide training, advice and information on all non domestic access issues for people with disabilities or impairments, and as an accessible learning venue for everyone and also a resource for the voluntary and community organisations in the South London sub region.
Asssitive technologies in the training room
The ALC has a range of assistive technologies – from specialist mice and keyboards to magnification software and speech to text or text to speech software, and is being used for a wide range of activities including MIDAS and PATS training and ICT training.
The Centre is a fully fitted, ground floor training room with 12 laptops, 2 desktops, induction loop, flip charts and fixed projector.

Who is behind the Centre?
The ALC is currently a partnership initiative between 4 organisations:
* Kingston Voluntary Action
* Superhighways
* Richmond & Kingston Accessible Transport
It is based next to the RaKAT offices at the North Kingston Centre, and has been funded by the Learning & Skills Council and ChangeUp Capital funding, with development consultancy provided by AbilityNet.
The Access Learning Centre has a range of specialist hardware and software to promote the ethos of accessibility for all.
