We want to encourage people to choose locally produced food in season. Our food choices can have a big effect on our environment. The food group has been busy: 

• producing and distributing a local food directory
• playing a major part in the Eco Fair 
• working with 'Choose Abingdon' to establish a Saturday market
• running a stall at the market, demonstrating home made foods and giving out information about them
• apple pressing at a variety of events 
• "grow your own" - through workshops, a veg growing class, and in three local schools 
• working with a Children's Centre to promote home cooking with local ingredients 

The apple press has been a valuable tool to show how we can use food that would otherwise go to waste. Many people have been fascinated to see it working, and taste pure fresh juice from local apples:
